Welcome to the Moy Lab Web Site
Our laboratory is located in the Department of Physiology and Biophysics at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. Here, we use the atomic force microscope (AFM) to measure forces involved in biological processes, such as the adhesive events that occur during cell migration or during cell-cell interactions. Using the AFM we are able to acquire direct force measurements of ligand-receptor interactions down to the level of single bonds. In addition we can detect minute changes in the biomechanical structure of the cell. Ultimately, this information will bring us several steps closer toward understanding mechanisms of cell adhesion and its regulation. We're a friendly group so stop, stay, explore awhile, and create your own path...
"Caminante, no hay camino.
Se hace camino al andar. Traveller, there is no path.
Paths are made by walking." -Antonio Machado 1875-1939
